Make this a conversation, not an interview
Choose two or three prompts. Put phones away, take turns, and ask “Tell me more” before jumping to your own answer. Passing is always okay. Save sensitive topics for a time when you both agree to discuss them.
Everyday connection
- What was the best five minutes of your day?
- What took more energy than I realized?
- Would listening, help, company, or space feel best tonight?
- What are you looking forward to?
- What is one little thing I did that helped?
- What would make tomorrow lighter?
Play and discovery
- What song belongs on our soundtrack?
- What would you do with a completely free Saturday?
- What tiny adventure could we take this month?
- What childhood hobby would you try again?
- What food should we learn to cook?
- What is a funny memory of us you still revisit?
Feeling understood
- When do you feel most like yourself?
- What do you wish people understood about you?
- What kind of reassurance feels helpful?
- What does quality time mean to you right now?
- What dream needs more room in your life?
- What do you want me to ask about more often?
Our shared future
- What do we want our home to feel like?
- What tradition should we begin?
- What does enough look like for us?
- What would we like to learn together?
- What should we protect time for?
- What decision would be easier with a shared plan?
Repair and romance, when welcome
- What did I misunderstand earlier?
- What part of your perspective have I missed?
- What would a useful apology include?
- What affection feels welcome this week?
- When have you felt most connected to me recently?
- What would make a date feel special without pressure?
Turn one answer into an action
If your partner asks for practical help, agree on a specific task and time. If they share a dream, ask whether they want encouragement or planning. Feeling heard grows when your next action reflects what they actually said.
Keep connecting
